From my personal analyzation, most chess games are not appreciated by all. To the people who do appreciate chess, they find this game filled with mental intensity and utter most strategy is needed but to the usual ignorant person and to the non-chess fanatics, they may consider chess as the most boring thing ever. An exciting game of chess does include tactics, strategies and even mental planning. After all, chess really does exercise our brains. Just like what they say, during a chess match, it's the battle of minds within the players that happen!
To the usual game lovers, they find it really interesting and really exciting. But there is another thing that some players do, and that is collect chess pieces. I know I know, it may seem boring but it's definitely not. A true collector's item is very very hard to find. For example, a usual Mickey Mouse chess set may be found in malls but a 12k silver 1954 chess set isn't.
The weird thing about chess is how to rules of the game stayed the same for over hundreds of years. Although the appearances of the chess pieces have evolved with those few hundreds of years the rules were not affected. This is one of the actual reasons why some people choose to collect chess sets, the antique status of a certain item can make it even better to use. A good example of antiques with high prices is those antique pianos. They tend to be more expensive over the years. Another thing you may do with these chess pieces is to pass them down to your grandsons and granddaughters.
As you know, due to the modern day technology we have today, most chess sets have been modeled from new and famous movie, characters and even cartoons. Did you know that there is already a Winnie the Pooh chess set? It's actually no joke. This may sometimes attract your kids of your little siblings / little cousins to play chess. Imagine this, you are playing a game of chess with your favourite chess set, maybe Star Wars. Just imagine how nice would it be to eat the villains and vice-versa. This just gives a whole new level of thrill to the game.
